THE PARK: A NOVEL is set in Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee. At 4,500 acres with over forty miles of trails and twenty bodies of water, Shelby Farms is five times larger than New York City’s Central Park. 

Fifty, fat and fatalistic about her future post-divorce, Hannah Wright Harris struggles with disordered eating, obsessive calorie counting, and compulsive weighing. Her husband’s infidelities only exacerbated these issues and fueled her self-hatred. Now an empty nester and alone during the pandemic, she’s stuck in a dead-end job and the past. 

When she is violently kidnapped during her daily walk in the park, death is no longer an abstract ideation. Over the harrowing three-day encounter, Hannah must reconcile and reclaim her past, reject the lies she’s believed about herself, and rebuild a life worth living beyond the park.
